NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Aw man, you have no idea how gutted I am about poor Blue
I thought about him all day at work. It did sound like the poor fella was pretty ill, so hopefully it is better this way, but it still doesn't make the loss any easier. If you will allow me to say a few words.....
"Blue was a fine turtle, well respected through the reptile community. His friends new him as a fun loving creature but also as a turtle that they could turn to and rely on. And although Blue is sadly no longer with us his memory will live on in the memory of his friends and family. So if you could all please raise your glasses and make a quiet toast to Blue, the cutest red-eared slider you'll ever see."

Geez, I'm really sorry about Blue! I've had turtles before, and iguanas, and I konw how tough it is to keep exotic pets healthy.
Matter of fact, on the continuing bummer trend...my cockatiel died today. It was so sudden! Poor P2, I had her for three years! She was the sweetest little bird, she loved to have her head scratched and she would sleep in your lap...*sniff....*
I'm gonna go be depressed for a while...

I'm so sorry, Slarti. Tell you what. Hot chocolate alway cheers me up, do you want some (virtual, of course)? We could sit by the fire and reminisce about the best qualities of our poor pets. That helped me feel less like something had been taken away from me and more like I was lucky to have every moment with little Blue. Still depressing, but you feel a *little* better.
Who knows, maybe Blue and P2 are talking up a storm about how great their owners treated them and how they wish they could come back to us. Just a thought.

Poor Blue. My brother's hamster died about a month ago. Poor Jane. I remember how, towards the end, her hips got so big she could have been an extra on Chicken Run. Of course, she would have had to have some sort of harness to hold her up. One with wheels, cause she didn't walk much after she went into her coma.
But there were good memories too, like how she used to run around in her little hamster ball (this was before she got sick) while I was waiting for X-Men to come on. Or the time I stuck her on Frenchie's shoulder and scared the crap out of her. Both of them.
This is one depressing thread.

I used to have a cat named Puff. Yes, that really was the cat's name, I was 5 when I got her okay. My half sister Delores gave her to me, and she was the first cat that was all mine. I had a cat before her named Sparkle, who disappeard, but I had to share her.
Anyway, she was a fruit eating cat. Seriously. She would eat bannanas (how the hell do you spell that?), honey dew, and her favorite was canalope. She scrape the fruit off of the rind and then chew on the rind.
When Choas, one of my stepdad's cat's, had her kittens, Puff got pissed. She peed on my mom's bed, and before anyone could talk my mom out of it, she took Puff down to the vet's and had her put to sleep. I come home from school, and find out that my cat is dead. I got mad, then I cried. This is a cat that I had had for almost 10 years and now she was gone.
Speaking of food eating cats, we had another one that did this. He was one of my step dad's cats and his name was Faust. He was a fluffy orange tom and was such a sweet thing. His deal was "If you can eat it, I can eat it." His favorite was tuna salad. He disappeared one day and we haven't seen him since.
We had another orange tom named Sunskist, like the orange, my mom named him. Nice and fluffy like Faust, and so sweet! He loved to have me pet him. He disappeared too. Although, we are pertty sure what happened to him. Across the street we had some cat hating neibors. We're pertty sure that they caught him and either (a) drowned him in their pool, (they had a pool in their back yard) or (b) dumped him far away from us.

Turtle sex stories! We have a couple of breeding age box turtles, and the experts always say that it's hard to get box turtles to breed. Not when you have Olaf around! Poor Scrabble doesn't like him, so we don't let them, uh, get together anymore.
Believe me, mating box turtles are extremely comical.
